A New Beverly Hills Cop Film Is Going Into Production This Summer

The Heat Is On

A recent posting discovered on casting site myentertainmentworld.com lists a Beverly Hills Cop feature film -sans a number in the title -as shooting this summer, with filming to take place in both Detroit & Los Angeles.

Development on Beverly Hills Cop 4┬áhas been stuck in “development hell” for a number of years, going through various scripts and directors but never coming to fruition. Following a failed attempt at a TV series on CBS in 2013, Paramount announced they were once again moving forward with a fourth film.

Beverly Hills Cop 4 was slated for release in March of 2016, yet once again pulled from Paramounts release schedule in May of 2015 due to script concerns, once again returning the film to “development hell.”

The last update on the film came last summer when Deadline reported that Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah were hired to direct Beverly Hills Cops 4 based on a script by writers Josh Appelbaum & Andre Nemec.

The lack of a number in the title (also listed the same way on Production Weekly) implies that Paramount may reboot the franchise without star Eddie Murphy. It remains to been seen if this in the same film that we heard about last summer or if the film will indeed be a reboot of the franchise with a brand new creative team.

As we hear more we’ll keep you posted…
