Filming commences this Summer
After an abundant amount of speculation in recent months over the plot of the next x-men film, it sees as though X-men: Supernova will indeed adapt the classic X-men storyline, the dark phoenix saga. A recent update to the films posting on casting site myentertainmentworld.com lists a first look at the synopsis for the new film, as well as a revised shooting date of June 15th.
Gathered together by Professor Charles Xavier to protect a world that fears and hates them, the X-men had fought many battles, been on adventures that spanned galaxies, grappled enemies of limitless might, but none of this could prepare them for the most shocking struggle they would ever face. One of their own members, Jean Grey, has gained power beyond all comprehension, and that power has corrupted her absolutely! Now they must decide if the life of the woman they cherish is worth the existence of the entire universe!
The story details listed should be considered as placeholders for now as the film is currently casting. While the X-men have faced off with various enemies in the movies, the X-men films have yet to feature any alien races or trips to outer space.
The Dark Phoenix saga was a major story element in the disappointing X-men: The Last Stand movie back in 2006. With X-men: Days of futures past serving as a quasi reboot of the popular series, 20th Century Fox have been given a fresh opportunity to correct their past mistakes with the franchise.
The film is expected to star Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops and Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler, all reprising their roles from X-men: Apocalypse. The listing for the film also mentions Professor Xavier, who is further expected to appear in the upcoming X-men: The New Mutants. It remains to been seen if James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender or Jennifer Lawrence will return for the film.
We will be sure to keep you updated on all things X-men. Mutant and Proud!
