The Batman solo movie has found itself a new director in Matt Reeves only days after Ben Affleck decided to step down from directing to focus on acting in the film. Ben Affleck will star and produce the film, from a script he co-wrote with Geoff Johns. Argo and Justice League writer Chris Terrio has been hired to do a rewrite on the script.
Although a deal isn’t in place yet, sources tell variety that Reeves has committed himself to filming the highly anticipated movie.
Reeves is known best for directing Cloverfield and Dawn of the planet of the apes and is currently hard at work on post-production for his latest film, War of the planet of the apes. With that film currently set for release this summer, it remains to been seen when exactly The Batman will go in front of cameras. Filming is expected to begin this spring for a 2018 release date, though at this point filming may not begin until later in the year.
