We’re only few weeks away from the release of Kong: Skull Island and new details are starting emerge on the next film in the shared ‘MonsterVerse,’ Godzilla: King of Monsters. A recently updated posting on casting site myentertainmentworld.com list the productions shooting date as July 19th 2017. While these sites may not always be 100% accurate on the exact date of filming, the productions tend to begin in the general month listed.
No details have been released about the films plot at this time. Millie Bobby Brown, known for playing the character of Eleven on Netflix’s hit show Stranger Things, will star in the film. Friday Night Light’s and Bloodline actor Kyle Chandler has also been cast in the film as the father to Brown’s character.
Krampus director Michael Dougherty will direct the film from a screenplay he co-wrote with Max Borenstein (Godzilla) & Zach Shields (Krampus). Godzilla: King of Monsters is scheduled for release on March 22nd 2019. Godzilla will face off against King Kong when Godzilla vs. Kong smashes its way onto movie theaters on May 29th, 2020.
2014’s Godzilla was a huge success for the studios and director Gareth Edwards, grossing an estimated $529,076,069 worldwide. Edwards latest film,Rogue One: A Star Wars story, is slated for home released on April 4th.
