A Whole New World
Disney have found enormous success in recent years adapting their classic animated films into live-action features. Cinderella, The Jungle Book, Pete’s Dragon, Maleficent and the upcoming Beauty and the Beast have all been met with great anticipation and that trend looks to continue with Aladdin.
Thanks to a recent update on casting website myentertainmentworld.com, we know now that the adaptation will begin filming in the UK this July.
Sherlock Holmes director Guy Ritchie is currently attached to direct the film for Disney with Corpse Bride scribe John August set to pen the screenplay. No actors have been announced at this time, though producer Dan Lin promises the film will have a diverse cast.
Ritchie’s latest film, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword hits cinemas on May 12. You can view the trailer here.
Live action remakes of Mulan, The Lion King, Curella, Dumbo and a sequel to 2016’s The Jungle Book are all currently in development as well.
