The Wire’s Michael K. Williams Joins The Han Solo Prequel Film

The currently filming prequel film has added a new member in the acclaimed actor Michael Kenneth Williams, as revealed by Starwars.com

“StarWars.com is thrilled to announce that Williams has officially signed on for the upcoming untitled Han Solo Star Wars movie. Williams comes to Star Wars having played many memorable roles in both TV and film, including Omar Little in The Wire and Albert “Chalky” White in Boardwalk Empire, bringing charisma, humanity, and nobility to all his performances.”

The report doesn’t indicate as who or what sort of character Williams will portray in the film.

As per usual plot points for the film are being kept under wraps; all we know is that the movie is set prior to the events of the original Star Wars trilogy. Where in the timeline between the end of the clone wars and the events of a new hope the film takes place we have yet to find out, although we expect details to be revealed at next months Star Wars Celebration.

The Lego Movie’s Phil Lord and Chris Miller are currently directing the highly anticipated prequel film from a script by Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Empire Strikes Back scribe Lawrence Kasdan & his son Joe. The film stars Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo, Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian and Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca with Emilia Clarke, Woody Harrelson, Thandie Newton and Phoebe Waller-bridge in currently undisclosed roles. The film is set for release on May 25th 2018.
